19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out? 20 And He said to them, “Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:19-20

Our Commission – Make Disciples

So that the world would know the good news of salvation through Jesus, He commands us to make disciples of the nations.  There are five primary Biblical passages where this command is given.

Mark 16:15 which tells us to go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation; John 20:21, as as Jesus was sent to us, we are sent into the world; Acts 1:8, the Holy Spirit is the power given to us for this mission; Luke 24:46-47, to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins; Matthew 28:19-20; our commission to make disciples of all nations.

Dave Wirgau’s Archer Illustration teaches us how we can reach the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through discipleship.

Lucifer, a created being, was the guardian cherub associated with protection and worship in the presence of God; he exalted himself to be above God and was banished from heaven and the presence of God.

Lucifer, now known as Satan hates God and hates everything God loves, including you and me.  In the Garden of Eden Satan deceived Eve causing Adam and Eve to sin, brining not only physical death into the world but bringing spiritual death to mankind, separating mankind from God because of that sin.  Satan will not stop at anything to steal from us, kill us, and destroy us and does not rest from accomplishing that in our lives.

What you experience in your circumstances in your physical life has a corresponding action taking place in the spiritual world which is where the victory is won.

Man’s attempts to end homelessness in the physical fall short, because our spiritual enemy hasn’t and isn’t just going to let that happen.

Jesus defeated Satan on the cross, so the solution is spiritual not physical.  In fact, the same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead lives in each person who puts their faith in Jesus for salvation.  The power that transforms a person’s life in the spiritual will end homelessness in the physical.  The presence of God changes everything.
